Abstract
1515720 Automatic exchange systems WESTERN ELECTRIC CO Inc 6 Nov 1975 [7 Nov 1974 (2)] 46015/75 Heading H4K A ring trip arrangement common to a group of lines each of which receives ringing current during a different phase, comprises a loop current detector that is selectively connected to one line at a time during the ringing phase thereof. Preferably all the lines are arranged in groups each with a common loop detector, and a common ringing generator is connected to each detector so as to apply current therethrough to more than one line during each phase (Fig. 1 not shown). The arrangement is for use in a TDM system where high voltage ringing must be applied at the line circuits rather than via the network. Fig. 3 depicts the arrangement for a single group. A not shown control system marks wires BPS, BBS of a called line and at the start of each ringing phase (there being 4 phases, each of 1 sec on 3 secs off) also marks BRBS, BRBC such that flip flop RFF sets to turn-on relay RINGO. The latter connects ringing current from generator RG via common detector D1 to the ring lead R of the called line TS1. At the end of the phase, wires BRBS, BRBC are marked such as to reset RFF and thus drop RINGO. During the "silent" portions of ringing, line relay LCO monitors the line for an answer signal and repeats the answer via gate SS to control (SS is prepared by the called line marking on BPS, BBS and the reset condition of RFF). If the subscriber replies during a ringing phase, detector D1 causes RFF to immediately reset, thus dropping RINGO and thereby permitting LCO to rise with results as before.
