Abstract

1514610 Axle casings CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 19 Nov 1976 [2 April 1976] 48406/76 Heading B7D [Also in Division B3] An axle housing 10 comprises first 12, second 14, third 16 and fourth 18 individual wall members, the first and second being spaced apart and welded to the third and fourth, which are also spaced apart. The first and second members 12, 14 have curved centre portions 22 and 30 respectively, flanked by straight portions 24, 26 and 32, 34; the third member 16 comprises straight portions 38, 40 and a separate domed plate 36, and the fourth member 18 comprises straight portions, not shown, parallel to portions 38 and 40, and a sepatate ring plate 42. Welded to the housing 10 are wheel support members 46, 48 and mounting brackets 52, 54 all of which may be accurately located on the housing 10.
