Abstract
1511966 Artificial lenses REVLON INC 20 July 1976 30199/76 Heading A5R An artificial lens 10, adapted for placement in the anterior chamber of the eye between the cornea and the iris, comprises an array 11 of inert, resilient, wire-like supporting members 14, 15 extending generally radially from the lens, said array having portions extending with clearance through apertures in the lens so that the lens is supported without any rigid connection between the portions and the lens and aqueous tumour is able to pass through the apertures when the lens is in situ. The array is formed from a single piece of wire having its free ends welded at 22, the members 14 being located posteriorly with respect to struts 15 so that the members 14, which are in the form of loops, may be inserted behind the iris. Alternatively the support members may be formed by two loops on each side of the plane of the iris. The said array portions extend through apertures 16, and generally transverse apertures (19), Fig. 2 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown) the apertures 16 are not present, the wire connecting the supporting members extending anteriorly of the lens.
