Abstract
1510806 Trunking in automatic exchanges INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 18 Sept 1975 [26 Sept 1974] 38362/75 Heading H4K In a switching network including a plurality of line selection units LSU and of group selection units GSU, each unit being provided with a number of input or output connectors 0-15 each having a plurality of wires, some connectors are joined directly by multiple wire link cables while others are joined via an interconnection device B1. The internal wiring of B1-Fig. 4-is arranged so as to afford the most even distribution of LSU outputs over GSU inputs. Both LSU's and GSU's are multistage networks, Fig. 1 (not shown), the inputs to the LSU's being from line circuits while the outputs from the GSU's are to junctors. In the example of Fig. 3, in which each input or output connector and link cable contains eight wires, adoption of the inter-unit trunking shown in solid lines results in an "even" interconnection of the first fifteen (0-14) inputs and outputs. Within the interconnection device B I the wiring takes the form shown in Fig. 4, this providing the most "even" distribution. In this case, device B I has four input and four output connectors, one of each being interconnected. The specification shows mathematically how the most "even" trunking and wiring distribution may be arrived at for differing numbers of the units LSU/GSU. A memory map may be used to record the busy/free state of paths through the network.
