Abstract

1509885 Filter housing CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 4 Jan 1977 [26 May 1976] 00045/77 Headings B1D and BIT A housing for a filter comprises an end cap 16 removably conneoted to the body, and the inner surface 18 of the end cap has an "L" section annular groove 19 and 20 extending into said end cap such that the first leg 20 of the "L" extends in the axial direction and the second leg 19 of the "L" extends radially outwardly from the inner end of the first leg 20, and the groove accommodates an annular gasket 33. The cap may be chamfered at one edge of leg 20. A filter element 17 may be positioned within said housing and filter from inside to out or vice versa.
