Abstract

1509719 Foams coated with flame retardents HAIRLOK Ltd 1 Nov 1976 [12 Aug 1975] 33580/75 Heading B2E One or more surfaces of a flexible open cell polymer foam body, e.g. of polyurethane, are provided with a flexible fire retardent coating to a depth of up to one half inch. The coating is inherently fire retardent, e.g. a halogenated polymer or contains one or more flame spread inhibiting additives, e.g. Al 2 O 3 , and chars on heating to form a protective carbonaceous layer preserving the cell structure.
