1508668 Methanoanthracenes SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 11 Dec 1975 [27 Dec 1974 4 April 1975 7 July 1975] 50853/75 Heading C2C Novel compounds of Formula I wherein A is an alkylene or alkyl substituted alkylene group, containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an alkenylene or alkyl substituted alkenylene group, containing 3 or 4 carbon atoms and R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each a hydrogen atom or a C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 3 -C 4 alkenyl, C 3 -C 4 alkynyl, C 3 -C 6 cycloalkyl(C 1 -C 3 )alkyl, ar- (C 1 -C 3 )alkyl or polyhalo(C 2 -C 4 )alkyl group or, when taken together with the adjacent nitrogen atom, form a 5 to 7-membered nitrogencontaining heterocyclic ring which may contain an additional hetero atom are prepared by various methods for introduction or modification of the basic group. Various intermediates and starting materials are also prepared. Pharmaceutical compositions in conventional forms for oral or parenteral administration having anti-tetrabenazine, anti-histamine, anticollinergenic, anti-serotoin and sedative activity comprise an above novel compound and a carrier or diluent.
