Abstract
1507571 Lubricating AUDI NSU AUTO UNION AG 17 Nov 1975 [7 Dec 1974] 47223/75 Heading F2A A machine comprises at least one shaft 22 mounted in a pressure-lubricated journal bearing 17, a lubricant dosing pump 23, and means for feeding lubricant thereto, the intake side 27 of the dosing pump being connected through a pipe or passage 31 to the clearance between the shaft and bearing at a point 32 which is spaced away from the point at which lubricant is fed to the bearing. The close clearance in the bearing acts as a filter on the lubricant supplied to the dosing pump. The shaft may be part of a gear pump 13, 14 forming the main lubricant pump of the machine or engine, lubricant being supplied to the bearing 17 and to a further bearing 18 from the delivery chamber 20 of the pump. The shaft may drive the dosing pump through dogs 29, 30. In a further embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), the intake side of the dosing pump is connected through a pipe which passes through the bearing 17 rather than through the axial bore in the shaft.
