Abstract

1506463 Sealing glass members PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 20 May 1975 [14 June 1974] 21470/75 Heading C1M [Also in Division H1] In making an electric discharge tube wherein at least one of the components is to be treated in a vessel sealed from the atmosphere, the vessel is composed of at least two parts hermetically sealed against each other at smooth facing surfaces by means of an interposed layer of a galliumcontaining material (e.g. Ga or an alloy thereof containing at least 50% Ga with Pb, Sn and In). The final seal may be reinforced by a metal and/or synthetic resin cover. In making the initial seal the parts are preferably rotated to avoid radial leaks.
