Abstract

1506150 Soap compositions in solid form PROCTOR & GAMBLE Ltd 6 May 1975 [6 May 1974 7 Oct 1974] 19820/74 and 43352/74 Heading C5D A soap composition in solid form, e.g. a soap bar comprises (i) from 5 to 90% of soap having a C 12 content of 5 to 45% and a C 18 content from 15 to 70% of the soap; (ii) from 0À1 to 10% of a collagen or soybean derived protein having an isoionic point pI in the range from pH 4 to pH 7, and containing an average of at least five free carboxylate groups per molecule; and (iii) from 0À5 to 10% of free fatty acid, all percentages being by weight, the soap composition having an in-use pH greater than 9 and less than (pI + 5À5). The protein may be a hydrolytic, ammoniolytic, aminolytic or reductive degradation product of collagen or a defatted soybean and includes gelatine. An anionic or non- ionic synthetic detergent may also be present. The soap has protective effects on the skin against detergents and adverse climate.
