Abstract

1505654 Dipicolinic acid by fermentation UNILEVER Ltd 5 May 1975 [7 Feb 1974] 05673/74 Heading C2C A process for the production of dipicolinic acid comprises removing iron impurities from an iron-containing carbon source and then culturing a dipicolinic acid-producing mould on the purified carbon source thereby obtained. The carbon source is suitably molasses, hydrolysed cellulose, hydrolysed cellulose wastes or hydrolysed starch from which the iron impurities are suitably removed by ion exchange or by precipitation as Prussian Blue.
