Abstract
1505228 Data transmission SIEMENS AG 24 Sept 1976 [25 Sept 1975] 39642/76 Heading H4P In the transmission of data characters or blocks B1, B2, B3 ... from station ST1 to station ST2 in response to call-up characters or bits Z1, Z1 transmitted from station ST2 to station ST1, the call-up indicia Z1, Z1 alternating regularly between the direct and inverted form in fault free operation, one block being transmitted for each call-up received, station ST1 is so arranged that each block is transmitted directly in response to call-up Z 1, and in inverted form in response to call up Zl. Should a block as received at ST2 be detected as disturbed; each block including a parity bit; the last transmitted call-up is re-transmitted, to cause the repetition of transmission of the last transmitted data block. To be detected as disturbance free, a received block must have the same inversion state as the last transmitted call-up. A fault signal F generated at receipt of a disturbed block prevents onward transmission of the block as data N2. This transmission scheme is shown to be immune to the type of fault wherein a call-up transmitted from ST2 is disturbed in transmission at St, to invert its logic state. The scheme is compared with a disadvantageous known system in which the blocks are always transmitted in direct form, Fig. 1 (not shown), wherein the disturbance in the call-up at St results in either repetition of a block (B2) in the forward data (N2), or the entire omission of a block (not shown).
