Abstract

1504789 Oil recovery BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 24 Nov 1976 [2 Dec 1975] 49401/75 Heading E1F A process for the recovery of crude oil comprises introducing into an oil bearing reservoir a homogeneous mixture including sea water; a hydrocarbon, e.g. kerosine; an ammonium petroleum sulphonate, e.g. a mixed material having an average M. W. of from 340-520; a second anionic surfactant present as its ammonium or substituted ammonium salt e.g. alcohol ether sulphates, alkylbenzene sulphonates, alkyl phenol ether sulphates or mixtures thereof; and a non- ionic condensate surfactant having a hydrophile/lipophile balance of from 11-15, e.g. alkyl ethoxy condensate with an alkyl chain length of C 8-18 , or alkylphenol ethoxylates with an alkyl chain length of C 6-12 .
