Abstract
1504453 Pivots P H MOE 23 Jan 1976 [23 Jan 1975] 2646/76 Heading E2F [Also in Division B7] The deck 1 of an oil platform is supported for vertical and lateral movement on columns 3 by a plurality of flexible members 11 e.g. of aluminium, or by spring or fluid pressure-loaded pistons, to transmit axial and lateral loads. Each column 3 has a plurality of guide sleeves 7 anchored by ribs 9 and each having a seat plug 10 receiving member 11. Enlargements 12 on member 11 have clearance in sleeve 7 and prevent binding when member 11 expands on compression. A semispberical member 13 seats on member 11 and engages a socket in deck 1, a lubricant being provided between the bearing surfaces. Sleeve 7 may contain a lubricant and/or corrosion inhibitor.
