Abstract
1503933 Regeneration of diatomaceous filter aid UNIVERSITY OF STRATHCLYDE 9 Feb 1976 [6 March 1975 (2)] 5467/75 and 9304/75 Heading C1A A diatomaceous filter aid (diatomite) is regenerated by calcining to remove organic contaminants, and crushing and screening the crushed material. The contaminated diatomite may be subjected to moisture removal prior to calcination which may be at 750-1000‹ C. for greater than 15 minutes. The calcination may be performed in the presence of a sodium salt to ensure removal of iron compounds.
