Abstract

1503913 Packages MARDON FLEXIBLE PACKAGING Ltd 14 April 1975 [16 April 1974] 16537/74 Heading B8C [Also in Division B5] A package includes a laminated flexible web 12, wherein an outer impermeable ply 13 is peelably adhesively bonded to an inner perforated or foraminous ply 14, peripherally and non-releasably sealed at 50 (preferably by heat but possibly by adhesive or ultrasonics) to an impermeable flexible web 16 to form a package in which ply 13 can be removed for exposure of the contents 20 to the surroundings. The web 16 may be a laminated web, and may be of the same construction as web 12, e.g. being a folded-over portion thereof, If the ply 14 is of oriented material a heat-seal at 50 renders the ply brittle so that it is broken as shown in Fig. 2b when edge 21 is pulled. The ply 13 may be one or more of paper, aluminium foil, cellulose, nylon, polypropylene, polyethylene or polyester, and the ply 14 may be non-woven polyethylene or polypropylene net, extruded plastics net, foraminous or perforated plastics or cellulose film, or spun-bonded polyolefin. The plies may be bonded by ethylene and vinyl acetate polymers and copolymers, ionomers or waxes. An exemplified laminate is polyethylene terephthalate film - polyurethane adhesive - aluminium foil - ionomer primer and adhesive-polyethylene net. Specified applications: dessicants, air fresheners, deodorants, infusion bags, pesticides, controlled-release chemicals, foods, cleaners.
