Abstract
1503644 Winding webs E FOGARTY & CO Ltd 21 April 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 7625/74 Heading D1N An apparatus for winding a fibrous web 9 into a roll of a predetermined radial density comprises an endless belt 1 trained over guide rollers 2 to 5 and formed into a loop 6 to wind the web about a mandrel 12 into the roll. In operation, following feeding the leading end of the web into the loop 6, the roller 5 is moved to portion 18a of a slot 18 to initiate the winding of the web about the mandrel and into the roll, the rate of increase of the loop during winding being controlled in accordance with a predetermined function by displacing the roller 4 drivingly along a slot 15. The diameter of the wound web roll is controlled by switches 16, 17 actuated by the spigot of the roller 4.
