1502904 Ply turn up bags for tyre building drums PHOENIX GUMMIWERKE AG 24 Oct 1975 [30 Nov 1974] 43908/75 Heading B7C A ply turn up bag for a tyre building drum 1 comprises an annular tubular body of elastomeric material, e.g. rubber, with loops of reinforcing cord 5 (e.g. of textile or metal) embedded therein, each loop lying in a respective plane perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to annular axis 4 of the body. The loops may be closed loops, one being illustrated, or turns of a helically disposed length of cord. Removal of the bag is achieved by over inflating the bag which results in expansion parallel to axis 4 and substantially no expansion perpendicular to axis 4 so that rib 6 is displaced radially from groove 7.
