1502782 Piston rings A STRAZDINS PTY Ltd 31 Oct 1975 [31 Oct 1974] 47227/74 Heading F2T A scraper ring 11, 12 for a piston is spaced from the bottom 10 of a groove 8 of the piston by a substantially radially non-resilient ring 9, in the form of a coil spring, the plane of contact of a scraper edge 17 of the ring 11, 12 passing through the area of contact 15 between the spring 9 and the ring. The piston is shown in two parts 5 and 6, screwed together and clamping a portion 11 of the ring between them, although the ring need not be so clamped (Fig. 2, not shown). The scraper ring can be of nylon, tetrafluoroethylene resin or metal and can be continuous or split.
