Abstract

1502219 Grilling NPI CORP 28 May 1976 22352/76 Heading A4D A griller for meat patties comprises upper 13 and lower 8 heated platens which overlap but are offset one with the other, a foraminous support 25 extending from the lower platen under the upper platen, and a conveyer 16 with pusher bars 19 arranged to slide patties over the front portion of the lower platen, then between the platens, and then over the support 25 below the rear portion of the upper portion. As shown, the griller includes radiant gas heaters 11 which are in addition to or instead of the electric heating coils 12 in the platens, and a fat collecting container 27 positioned below the foraminous support 25. Bars 23 hang from a pivot 24 pressing the patties into contact with the lower platen 8 and a tray (draining into the container 27) collects the cooked patties. The conveyer 16 comprises a pair of side chains running on sprockets 17, 18 and the transverse pusher bars 19 which may be of rectangular cross-section to scrape against the platen surfaces Fig. 3, (not shown), or are of circular cross-section with a replaceable paper covering (33), or include a scalloped plate (21, 37) shaped to the patties Figs. 2, 5, (not shown).
