Abstract

1502177 Copying on microfilm BELL & HOWELL CO. 14 Nov 1975 [26 Dec 1974(2) 30 Dec 1974] 47035/75 Heading G2A Apparatus for photographing material (e.g. on a CRT) on microfilm comprises projection means, an image aperture, means for clamping microfilm against the image aperture, and a carriage for microfilm, said carriage having means for advancing microfilm between the aperture and clamping means and being movable relative to.the aperture in a direction transverse to that of microfilm advance. As shown, film feeding means is carried by a carriage 26 having sleeve bearings 27 and 28 allowing vertical movement along stanchions, (21 and 22), Fig. 2 (not shown) under the action of a motor (148) which drives an endless belt 131 connected to carriage 26 by a bracket 141. Microfilm 12 is passed by means of an interchangeable film guide unit 182 between an interchangeable bayonet fitting optical unit 81 having an aperture 84 (corresponding to the format of the microfilm) and a film pressure plate 96 having two rows of apertures 98 and 99. Plate 96 is mounted on a rotatable plunger which is retracted against a spring bias by a solenoid (107), Fig. 7 (not shown) connected to a stanchion 89 passing through carriage 26. The film is advanced by a motor driven capstan 47, the tension each side of the capstan being equalized by tension arms 45 and 49 which also cause actuation of supply reel motor 33 or take-up reel motor 34 as required.
