ING INSTRUMENT CO Ltd 19 Oct 1976 [22 July 1975] 30557/75 Heading G5R A magnetic recording-and-playback head comprises a first magnetic member 1 opposing a second magnetic member 4 flanked by third and fourth magnetic members 5, with a recording winding 8 linked to the first member 1 and a playback winding 7 linked to the second member 4, so that a playback gap is formed between the first member 1 and the second member 4 while a recording gap is formed between the second, third and fourth members 4, 5 together and the first member 1. Alignment of the head in a holder may be facilitated by a notch 9 in the second member 4. The length c of the first member 1 is greater than the joint length a of the second, third and fourth members 4, 5.
