1500054 5-Fluorouracil derivatives ONO PHARMACEUTICAL CO Ltd 12 May 1975 19923/75 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the Formula I wherein R is hydrogen or a -CA 1 A 2 A 3 radical provided that the two R's are not hydrogen simultaneously, and A 1 , A 2 and A 3 are the same or different radicals and are selected from hydrogen, alkyl or optionally substituted alkoxy or aryloxy, acyl, carboxy, or optionally substituted earbalkoxy or carbonyloxy, provided that at least one of A 1 , A 2 and A 3 is a radical other than hydrogen and alkyl, and at least one of A 1 , A 2 and A 3 is hydrogen, may be prepared by reacting 5-fluorouracil with X-CA 1 A 2 A 3 where X is halo, in the presence of a base. The compounds I are pharmaceutically active as anti-tumour agents.
