Abstract
1500001 Cutting pliers DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 4 Feb 1975 [7 Feb 1974 8 Nov 1974] 05767/74 and 48517/74 Heading B4W Cutting pliers are provided with a resilient metal plate member 19 (Fig. 1) or 32 (Figs. 3a, 3b) for retaining the off-cut end of material (e.g. wire) cut by the pliers, the plate member 19, 32 being pivotally attached to one of the jaws about a pivot pin 20, 33 which lies parallel to the main pivot 17 of the plier jaws, and being arranged to co-operate with the opposite jaw for retaining the cut end. In the embodiment of Figs. 3-6 a coil spring 34 under the head of the pivot pin 33 holds the plate 32 resiliently in position, an end of the spring bearing on a side surface of a slot 32a in the plate in order to make the plate project from its jaw to a greater extent at the main pivot end. In this embodiment two pairs of crimping jaws 35a, 36a, 35b, 36b for crimping a terminal on to a wire (Fig. 6) are provided forwardly of the retaining plate and the forward nose portion is provided with cutting edges 37, 38 useful in stripping a conductor and twisting cut wire ends.
