Abstract
1499187 Microprogramming NIXDORF COMPUTER AG 23 April 1975 [24 April 1974] 16851/75 Heading G4A A multiplexer 14 receiving inputs from the sections A-E of an instruction register 13 and providing at its output part of the address for a microprogram store 16 is controlled by logic 20 receiving microinstructions from store 16 and status signals at 26. Each address for microprogram store 16 is formed by 3 bits from multiplexer 14 and 5 bits from logic 20. The sections A-E of instruction register 13 store, respectively, an operation to be carried out, a conditional criterion, a source register address, a target register address, and an address forming specification. To perform a jump instruction the address of instruction address register 11 is entered as the target register address in the relevant instruction. For a subprogram jump a signal is applied to logic 20 at 27 to cause a return address to be stored in an intermediate store.
