Abstract

1498564 Milling cutters FRIED KRUPP GmbH 11 March 1976 [12 March 1975] 9848/76 Heading B3K A milling cutter comprises a cylindrical body 2 having a bore 3 for mounting it on a shaft and an abutment face 1 for locating it against an abutment on the shaft and a peripheral groove 4 parallel with the abutment face 1, a plurality of radially extending peripherally distributed slots 8 are provided in the body for the reception of insert carriers 5 in which cutter inserts 7 are clamped, the carriers being located against planar base surfaces 9 in the slots and clamped therein by wedge means. The carriers 5 are provided with projections 6 which engage in the groove 4 to locate them in a desired axial position relative to the cutter body 2. The planar base surfaces of the slots 8 are inclined to the axis of the cutter at an angle of 5 degrees -30 degrees. The wedge means may be in the form of individual wedge members 10a, 10b for the insert and carriers having screws 11a, 11b or alternatively by a wedge screw members 15. The screws are disposed at an angle of 60-85 degrees to the base surface 9 of the slots 8.
