Abstract

1497503 Burner control LGZ LANDIS & GYR ZUR AG 15 Jan 1976 [22 Jan 1975] 01631/76 Heading F4T During positive half-cycles of the A.C. supply at terminal R, the operating winding FR of an electromagnetic relay is by-passed by a first diode D1 in series with a Zener diode Z, whereby the sum of the forward volt drops of these diodes is applied across the winding, i.e. about 1À4 volts. For negative half-cycles at supply terminal R current flows through resistor R2 and through the winding FR or the transistor T1 When transistor T1 is conductive the relay is de-energized and when transistor T1 is blocked the relay is energized although it is supplied only during the negative half-cycles at terminal R. A capacitor C is charged via a second diode D2 during negative half-cycles at the supply terminal R and current flow from point b through resistor R5 enables transistor T1 via transistor T2 causing de-energization of the relay. However if a flame is present, ionization current flows through the resistor R8 due to the rectifying action of the flame. This current exceeds that through the diode D2 for a normal flame at the burner B so the transistors T1, T2 are blocked and the relay is energized.
