Abstract

1497207 Tartaric acid TOKUYAMA SODA KK 10 Feb 1976 [14 Feb 1975 9 Oct 1975] 05106/76 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] L-tartaric acid is produced by contacting a microorganism of the genus Nocardia or an enzyme isolated therefrom with cis-epoxysuccinic acid or a water-soluble inorganic salt thereof. A surfactant is preferably present. Suitable salts of cis-epoxysuccinic acid include Na, K, Ca and NH 4 salts. The product may be isolated as the calcium salt.
