Abstract

1496658 Folding edges of sheet material BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO Ltd 7 March 1975 [8 March 1974] 10408/74 Heading B5K [Also in Division B2] A cementing and folding machine comprises a creaser foot 10 having a passageway 14 opening into a lower surface of the foot, through which passageway 14 adhesive supplied from a pump (not shown) can be applied to a workpiece as it passes beneath the foot 10, and in which passageway 14 a ball valve arrangement 15 is located, the arrangement 12 comprising a ball 26 urged by a spring 28 into seating engagement against a shoulder 24 to prevent the flow of adhesive through the passageway 14, the arrangement being such that, when adhesive is pumped under pressure along the passageway 14, the ball 26 is unseated against the influence of the spring 28, and adhesive can thus flow through the arrangement 12. As shown, the shoulder 24 is provided by a member 18 having a plug 29 threadedly received in a bore 30 in the foot 10 and a collar 34 which can be clamped against the outer surface of the foot 10 to prevent leakage of the adhesive through the bore 30. The member 18 is provided with bores 20, 22, the bore 20 being aligned with a passageway 16 which branches from the passageway 14 and is connected to the pump. In an alternative embodiment (not shown), instead of providing the passageway 16, the central bore of the member 18 extends along the whole of the length of the member, i.e. through the plug and collar, and is connected directly to the pump. 1496662 Edging strips DRAFTEX DEVELOPMENT AG 24 March 1975 [23 March 1974] 13006/74 Heading B5K [Also in Division E1] A flexible strip of channel cross-section is made up of a metal core 5 coated with low molecular weight PVC and covered with cloth 6. It may be used for draught sealing, panel edging or as a glass run. The strip is made by coating the core with low M.W. PVC in liquid or semi-liquid form heating to gel and applying the cloth or the core may be heated and immersed in a suspension of PVC particles causing gelling, followed by application of the cloth with or without intermediate heating. The core may be bent into channel form before or after the PVC material is applied.
