Abstract
1496155 Lighting MARCONI CO Ltd 18 March 1975 [16 May 1974] 21862/74 Heading F3C [Also in Divisions G4 and G2] A programmable graticule comprises two arrays of light emissive diodes each adapted to produce a display in the form of parallel stripes of light, means for selectively energizing the stripes in the two arrays, and means for optically combining the light emitted by a stripe from each array to produce an illuminated cross. The arrays may be adapted to produce stripes by virtue of using elongated light emmissive diodes, or the elongation may be achieved by a cylindrical lens in front of each array. The selected stripes from the two arrays are combined by a halfsilvered or dichroic mirror to form the cross. The cross produced is combined in a further such mirror with the view through the view finder or gun sight of a weapon. A "1" bit is inserted, each cycle, into a clock-pulsedriven shift register which scans the anodes of the diodes of each array, the two arrays together via drive transistors, each array having a respective switching transistor to which the cathodes of its diodes are connected in common, the required diodes being illuminated each cycle by suitably timed enabling pulses to the switching transistors.
