Abstract

1495401 Thrust measurement DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 26 June 1975 [9 July 1974] 30454/74 Heading G1W A device for measuring the thrust of a propulsive device such as an aircraft gas turbine engine, either during flight or in a test rig comprises a pair of cylindrical shear force transducers 2 rigidly supported at 3, and each including a sleeve 11 pivotally attached to the casing of the device. One transducer (Fig. 3) carries sleeve 11 fixed against axial movement by means of sleeve 14 and circlips 12, 15. A port spherical bearing 9, 10 carried by sleeve 11 carries a trunnion 1 bolted to the engine. The other transducer Fig. 4 (not shown) carries sleeve 11 free to slide axially. A vertical steel wire acts as a tailpipe support 5.
