1495160 Heat sensitive recording sheets CIBA-GEIGY AG 31 Dec 1975 [5 Feb 1975] 53364/75 Heading G2C [Also in Divisions D1-2] A heat-sensitive recording material contains a colour former system comprising at least one compound of the general formula. and a triazene compound of the general formula wherein R 1 and R 2 , which can be the same or different, each represents hydrogen, alkyl of at most 12C atoms optionally substituted by cyano or halogen, C 2-8 alkoxyalkyl, benzyl, or phenyl, R3 represents hydrogen, halogen, nitro, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy; X and Y, which can be the same or different, each represents C 1-12 alkyl, C 1-12 alkoxy, unsubstituted or ring substituted aralkyl, phenyl, or phenyl which is substituted by C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy, nitro, halogen, or by amino which can be mono or di-substituted by C 1-12 alkyl, C 1-8 acyl, or benzyl; Z represents C 1-12 alkyl, alkenyl of at most 12C atoms, aralkyl or aryl, each of which is unsubstituted or ring substituted, or Z represents an unsubstituted or substituted heterocyclic radical, D represents the radical of a diazo component and each of A 1 and A2 independently represents an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, or aryl radical, or A 1 and A 2 together with the N atom to which they are attached, represent a heterocyclic radical which can contain a further hetero atom. The colour former system may be mixed with one or more other known colour formers. The heat-sensitive recording material may comprise a carrier supporting a layer containing at least one colour former system as defined above, and an electron acceptor, optionally together with a binder. According to another aspect, the invention comprises a heat-sensitive composition containing at least one colour former system as defined above, an electron acceptor, and optionally a binder. The electron acceptor may be a clay, phenolic compound, or organic acid. The binder is preferably a fusible film-forming binder. The colour former system and electron acceptor may be in the same or different layers. The thermo-reactive coating may also contain pigments and substances such as urea, thiourea, acetanilide or phthalic anhydride, which induce simultaneous melting of the colour former system and electron acceptor.
