Abstract

1494797 Vinyl chloride BP CHEMICALS Ltd 22 April 1976 [13 May 1975] 20081/75 Heading C2C Vinyl chloride is produced by the pyrolysis of 1,2-dichloroethane at elevated temperature in the presence of 200-5000 p.p.m. of 1,1,2-trichloroethane. Preferably the pyrolysis is conducted at a temperature of at least 400‹ C. in the presence of 500-2000 p.p.m. of the trichloroethane at a pressure of 300-350 p.s.i.g. in a continuous manner.
