Abstract

1494147 Measuring thickness of fat in meat K HOFSTETTER 5 June 1975 [5 June 1974] 24318/75 Headings G1M and G1S Apparatus for tracing the fat/meat stratum in slaughtered animals comprises an insertion part 1 containing a fibre optics system 7 comprising lighttransmitting fibres 13 and light-receiving fibres 12 which are disposed in an aperture 6 so that the depth of the fat layer can be determined with respect to a stop abutment formed on a handle 8. The fibres 12, 13 are taken in a protective tube 15 to an evaluating device (not shown) which detects the amount of light reflected from the different materials.
