Abstract

1494115 Conical mills, cylindrical refiners, disc mills M PILAO 20 Aug 1975 [15 Jan 1975] 34547/75 Heading B2A A pulp refiner has spaced first and second refining members and a rotatable third refining member between them. The members have cooperating comminuting projections constituted by parallel ribs integral with the remainder of the members. The refiner may be a disc refiner, a cylindrical mill with a rotor 128 Fig. 6 or a conical mill with a rotor 228 Fig. 7. The main embodiment described is a disc mill in which the fixed discs 26, 30 Fig. 1 cooperate with a rotor disc 28. Disc 30 is axially adjustable with a motor 38 and worm drive 40. The rotor disc 28 is also freely axially movable to float between the disc 26, 30. The disc 28 is a unitary body with openings 82 and mounting portions 84 Fig. 2 which are secured to a hub 58 Fig. 5 by screws 66. The disc 28 however has limited axial freedom relative to the hub 58 and screws 66, being guided by a pin 70 which extends into a blind bore 72 of the disc 28. The feed stock is in all cases delivered to the refining zone along two paths P 1 and P 2 .
