Abstract

1493295 Rotary positive displacement fluid machines COMPROTEK SA 9 Dec 1975 [21 Dec 1974] 50492/75 Heading F1F A rotary piston machine comprises a pair of internally meshing rotors 6, 7 located in a housing 1 having inlet and outlet ports 4', 5' an inner housing 2 being located between the rotors, the latter having helical teeth and being synchronized by gears 31, 32. Each tooth space on the rotor 7 is defined in cross-section by a pair of pericycloidal portions joined by a circular arc centred on the rotational axis of rotor 7. The rectangular inlet 4' extends the full axial length of the rotors, and the outlet 5' is triangular and it located at "trailing" axial end of the rotors. Fig. 2, shows a two-stage compressor, the rotors 6, 7 each having two portions 6', 6"and 7', 7", the rotors being synchronized by gears 31, 32, the wrap angle of the respective rotor portions 6', 6" and 7', 7" are substantially the same so that each stage has the same compression ratio. An unload/throttle valve is operable to vary the output and to unload the compressor by connecting the outlets back to the first stage inlet. A radial seal may be mounted in the housing adjacent the common tangent line of the rotors, and the rotor 6 may have its teeth coated with a plastics material which is machined by the rotor 7 on first starting. The housing may have cooling passages and a reservoir for oil injection.
