Abstract

1493223 Changing display devices EVERBRITE ELECTRIC SIGNS Inc 7 April 1976 14043/76 Heading G5C An illuminated changing sign consists of a first stationary opaque panel 30 with an orthogonal array of transparent dots 52, and a second opaque panel 40 linearly reciprocable behind the first and bearing a second array of transparent dots arranged along diagonal lines 54 (Fig. 9) passing through the corners of rectangles defined by two adjacent squares of the first array, the second array of dots defining a series of superposed displays which become successively visible as their dots align with the front array. The rear panel 40 is, of course, reciprocated along the line of the diagonal by an eccentric pin 48 and a slot 50. The dot array of panel 40 is produced photographically by applying a tilted dot grid overlay to photographs of the separate displays which are then superposed and photographed again. The shape of slot 50 may be chosen to give a rapid, invisible fly-back after each sequence of viewing the displays.
