Abstract

1493190 Pressure gauge R WICKLUND 30 April 1975 [24 May 1974] 18041/75 Heading G1L [Also in Division G3] In an apparatus for guiding the rate of ascent of a diver, a depth meter 1 and a timer 2 which simulates operation of the depth gauge indicator during an ascent at a predetermined rate, are positioned relative to one another so that their indicators 3, 4 can be viewed simultaneously. The depth meter 1 may be of known Bourdon oil-filled type and the timer mechanism may be of a known battery or mainspring operated watch mechanism, Fig. 4 (not shown), set, wound and started by a control 6 arranged in the side, or in the centre, Figs. 3a, 3b (not shown) of the mechanism. The scale 5 of the depth meter I may be non-linear having a greater angular displacement at the lower values than at the greater depth values. The depth mechanism may be linear and the timer may rotate at a non-linear rate decreasing as it approaches the zero depth mark on the depth meter scale. In the alternative embodiment, (Figs. 3a, 3b) the depth meter 1 and the timer 2 are in separated sealed units clamped together with transparent interfaces in face-to-face relationship. The timer and depth meter may be rotatable relative to one another for setting purposes.
