1493097 Suction cleaner nozzles H WESSEL 9 July 1976 28740/76 Heading A4F A base-plate for a suction cleaner nozzle comprises front and rear suction ducts 4, 8 extending transverse to the normal direction of movement of the nozzle, a leading bottom surface 2 sloping upwardly and forwardly from the leading lower edge of the front suction duct 4 at 4 degrees - 8 degrees (e.g. 6 degrees) with respect to the datum plane defined by the lowermost points of the baseplate, a trailing bottom surface 5 sloping upwardly and rearwardly from the trailing lower edge of the rear suction duct 8 at 1 degree - 5 degrees (e.g. 3 degrees) with respect to the datum plane, and a central bottom surface 7 having a rise of 0À5-1À5 mm (e.g. 1À0 mm) from the leading lower edge of the rear suction duct 8 to the trailing lower edge of the front suction duct 4. The rear wall 15 of the rear suction duct 8 may be inclined at 40 degrees - 50 degrees to the trailing bottom surface 5 (optimally at 45 degrees to the datum plane). The radius of curvature of the wall junctions 9, 10, 11 and 12 is desirably 2À5 - 5.0mm (e.g. 3.5mm) and that of the wall junctions 13 and 14 is desirably 0.3 - 1.5mm (e.g. 1.0mm).
