Abstract

1492509 Cathode-ray tube circuits INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 3 June 1976 [5 June 1975] 22963/76 Heading H4T [Also in Division H2F] To allow isolation of TV receiver circuits from the mains, the horizontal scanning circuit 20 is driven by an isolating transformer 10, and in turn supplies energy to other units, the supply to primary winding 11 being switched alternately on and off by respectively a thyristor switch stage and a control stage sensitive to the total energy demand. Known scanning circuit 20, provided with energy from secondary winding 12 of transformer 10 via diode 24, is driven by horizontal oscillator 18, switching diode-shunted commutating thyristor 23 which via commutating LC circuit 25, 26 causes diode-shunted switching thyristor 22 to turn off. The circuit supplies combined deflection coil and EHT transformer 21, the amplitude of the flyback pulse from which is a function of the energy demand of the complete receiver. The input transformer 10 is supplied from rectified mains supply B via chopper thyristor and diode 13, 14 switched on by the horizontal oscillator 18 via isolating transformer 19, and switched off at a later instant by commutation of current in resonant LC circuit 15a, 16. Winding 15b, isolated from 15a controls the inductance of 15a in transductor 15 and hence its tuning; the control signal from tapping 211 on the EHT output, via control circuit 17, thus ensures that the duty cycle of thyristor 13 is modified according to the total energy demand.
