Abstract

1492110 Phosphorothioate esters SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 11 Dec 1975 [29 Jan 1975] 50855/75 Addition to 1467561 Heading C2P [Also in Division A5] Novel phosphorothioates of the formula wherein X is Cl or Br are obtained either (a) by reacting a compound II: wherein M is H, an alkali metal or an ammonium group with (CH 3 O) 2 P(S)Cl, (b) by reacting a compound II in which M is H with PCl 3 , optionally in the presence of an acid binding agent, reacting the product with P(S)Cl 3 to form the compound and then reacting the latter with a compound CH 3 OM<SP>1</SP> wherein M<SP>1</SP> is an alkali metal, e.g. Na or K, or with methanol in the presence of an acid binding agent, or (c) by reacting a compound II in which M is H with PSCl 3 in the presence of an acid binding agent to form a compound of the Formula III above and then reacting the latter with a compound CH 3 OM<SP>1</SP> wherein M<SP>1</SP> is an alkali metal or with methanol in the presence of an acid binding agent. The compounds (I) have soil fungicidal properties and may be used as active ingredients in soil fungicidal compositions which may also contain known pesticidal compounds, especially fungicidal compounds, and fertilizers. The compounds are also referred to for comparative purposes.
