Abstract

1491992 Polymer compositions INST ELEMENTOORGANICHESKIKH SOEDINENY AKAD NAUK SSSR 25 Feb 1976 07454/76 Heading C3R A composition comprises a polymeric binder for a filler which is a mixture of polymers of formula wherein in 4 to 20% by weight of the binder n is 2 to 15 and in the remiander of the binder n is 16 to 500, R 1 is R 2 is where m is 1 to 4, and R 3 and R 4 are acetyl groups or ketals thereof. The composition is suitable for moulding to form anti-friction articles and the filler may comprise anti-friction material, e.g. solid lubricants. Other fillers and fibrous material may be present. In examples polymeric binders are obtained by condensing diacetyldiphenyloxide with acetophenone, by condensing ethylketals of diacetylbenzene with acetophenone and by condensing diacetyldiphenyloxide, diacetylbenzene, diacetyldiphenylmethane or ketals of these compounds, with acetophenone and p-ethylacetophenone, the products being mixtures of low and high molecular weight polymers; the fillers used are molybdenum disulphide, graphite, tungsten disulphide, tungsten diselenide, talc, asbestos, copper powder, nickel powder, silver powder, quartz powder, carbon fibre, graphitized fibre and boron nitride.
