Abstract
1490990 Measuring speed electrically AGFAGEVAERT AG 30 Oct 1974 [31 oct 1973] 46953/74 Heading GIN (A) Means for monitoring the speed of copying material 9 in a copying apparatus comprises rotatable means 8 arranged to be driven by the material 9, or by the transport means 5 if no material is present, tachometer means for measuring the speed of rotation of rotatable means 8 and for generating a control signal when said speed falls below a predetermined minimum, and relay 25 for switching off heating means 35 in response to said control signal. Relay 25 is energized by a signal from a semiconductor trigger stage 22 and may also open circuit drive motor I and energize ventilator 33. Trigger stage 22 provides a signal when capacitor 19 charges for a sufficient length of time for the voltage applied to the input of the trigger stage 22 to exceed the reference value set by resistors 23, 24. The charging time of capacitor 19 is determined by the width of pulses transmitted from means 10 which depends on the speed of rotation of shaft 6. Every time electrical continuity between contacts 13, 14 is interrupted a positive voltage surge, differentiated by the circuit comprising capacitor 29 and resistor 30, is applied to the control electrode of the field effect transistor 20 which discharges capacitor 19.
