1490971 Alpha-numeric display IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 Oct 1974 [16 Oct 1973] 48079/73 Heading G5C [Also in Division G2] In an electrolytic display device having a plurality of transmissive or reflective working (display) electrodes, e.g. in figure of eight array 1-7 and at least one counterelectrode 8 in contact with an active material comprising an n-aryl substituted derivative of a bicyclic compound having two nitrogen containing rings, the total surface area of the counterelectrode in contact with the active material is greater than, e.g. up to 10 times and preferably 2-5 times, that of the working electrodes. The counterelectrode may be disposed in the device so that changes occurring at its surface in use are not visible. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,407,133.
