Abstract

1489973 Burners; lighters VALOR HEATING Ltd 11 May 1976 [12 Feb 1975] 5875/75 Headings F4F and F4T An oil-fired space heater comprises a radiant burner 1 having inner and outer perforated concentric sleeves 3, 4, surrounded by an imperforate concentric tube 5, and a wick 8 guided between tubes 6, 7, embodied in an oil tank, a manually-operable electric igniter 2 comprising lever means 11, 19, for raising burner 1 from an operative to an inoperative position wherein the wick 8 is exposed, an igniter head 20 movable to an operative position in close proximity with the wick when burner 1 is in the inoperative position, the lever means and the igniter head support being operated in synchronism. In operation, a knob 18 rotates a rod 15 against the action of a torsion spring 23, levers 11, 19, pivot burner 1 about a fixed bracket 10 into the Fig. 2 position and the circuit from a battery to contacts 25, 27, is closed, so that the filament 29 ignites wick 8. The burner is returned to the Fig. 1 position on release of knob 18, by spring 23.
