1489437 Tape cassettes PHILIPS ELECTRIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 29 Jan 1975 [1 Feb 1974] 3904/75 Heading B8M A recording-tape cassette comprises a casing 1 containing two winding hubs 5, 6 on which are wound a recording tape 7 and having two parallel major walls 2, 3 extending at right angles to the axes of the hubs 5, 6 and a plurality of peripheral walls extending between the walls 2, 3, the casing also containing corrugated films 10, 10<SP>1</SP> which are arranged to lie one between each of the walls 2, 3 and the coils 7<SP>1</SP> of tape wound on the hubs 5, 6, each film 10, 10<SP>1</SP> being resiliently compressible in a direction at right angles to the planes containing the crests of the corrugations at both sides of the film and has a force deflection ratio in the range 100 to 400 grammes per mm., preferably 200 grammes per mm. "Force deflection ratio" is defined as the ratio of the force exerted on the film in a direction at right angles to the planes containing the crests of the corrugations at both sides of the film to the resulting deflection of the film in the same direction. Preferably, the corrugations extend longitudinally of the film, as shown, but, alternatively, they may extend laterally or radially relative to holes in film to receive spindles of a recording and/or playback apparatus. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), flat films (11), (11<SP>1</SP>) are disposed between the tape coils (7<SP>1</SP>) and the corrugated films (10), (10<SP>1</SP>). The longitudinally corrugated film 10, Fig. 7, and the flat film 11 are affixed at points 13, 14 in a central flat zone 12 of the film 10.
