Abstract
1488252 Ultrasonic cleaning apparatus KERRY ULTRASONICS Ltd 22 Nov 1974 [15 Dec 1973] 58227/73 Heading A4F A method of ultrasonic cleaning comprises immersing articles to be cleaned in a liquid subjected to mechanical ultrasonic energy wherein such energy at at least two substantially different frequencies is applied simultaneously. Apparatus for carrying out the method comprises ultrasonic transducers arranged for transmitting ultrasonic energy into cleaning liquid in a tank and including (a) at least two transducers operable at respective substantially different frequencies and having seperate energizing power supplies so that they may be operated simultaneously, or (b) at least two groups of transducers operable at respective substantially different frequencies, seperate energizing power supplies being provided for each group. In one construction, five rows of six transducers each, are fixed to the underside of a cleaning tank and so connected to two seperate power supply units that alternate transducers in each row are operated respectively at 25 KHz and 40 KHz.
