Abstract

1487739 Mechanical seals CRANE PACKING Ltd 17 Dec 1974 [19 Dec 1973] 58998/73 Heading F2B In a sealing arrangement, e.g. for a stirrer for a chemical reaction vessel, in which coolant is circulated in the space between two concentric end face seals 6, 7, the inner seal 7, at least, has a bellows 17, either bonded thereto or integral therewith. The bellows and seal may be of P.T.F.E. An internal telescopic support 19, 20 and metal reinforcements 18, 22 are provided. The seals 6<SP>1</SP> and 7 may alternatively be of carbon. Any coolant leaking out of the seal can be drained off at 16.
