1487593 Drill supports; jigs W J HARWOOD 1 Oct 1974 42575/74 Headings B3B and B3C A jig for supporting a portable electric drill at an adjustable predetermined angle relative to a workpiece surface comprises two nested, rectangular, trough-shaped support members 61 and 79 the inner of which 79 is pivoted at one end to the outer 61 by fasteners 64 and is lockable in an adjusted position by'means such as a bolt and wing nut on the inner member slidable in an arcuate slot in the outer member. The drill 68 is mounted on the floor 66 of inner member 79, for sliding longitudinal movement by which it may be advanced, by means of a track which may be continuous or as shown provided by a series of bolts 73 and which is engaged by inturned flanges 72 of a guide member 70 carrying one or two V-shaped cradling blocks 74, a strap 69 and one or two optional support screws 76 for the drill. The two members 61, 79 may be expandable laterally to accommodate drill housings of different sizes by each being formed in two sections with overlapping floors held together by fasteners engaging in aligned slots (not shown). Ends 81 of side wall extensions 63, which are slotted so as to serve as a handle, may be flanged to provide an end abutment for engaging the workpiece surface. The drill may be reversed on its supporting floor by removing the guide member 70 from the track. Blocks 101 under the floor 62a of the outer member 61 allow the inner member 79 to pivot to an angle of 90 degrees. Workpiece-holding accessories (not shown) may be permanently fixed to or detachable from the member 61.
