Abstract

1487302 Scaffold boards CEMENTATION CHEMICALS Ltd 10 Jan 1975 [15 Feb 1974] 38653/73 Heading E1S A scaffold board is made of a plastics material containing fibre reinforcements comprising unidirectional continuous rovings and one or both of chopped strand mat and woven rovings. Preferably the plastics material is a styrene cross-linked polyester of o-phthalic anhydride and propylene glycol and the board 1 includes one or more lightweight cores 2, 3, 4 e.g. of foamed polyurethane. The upper surface 5 is free from reinforcement and overlies woven rovings 6 while the lower surface-7 is reinforced with chopped strand mat and a layer 8 of continuous longitudinally extending rovings is disposed between the woven rovings and the lightweight cores. In a modification (Fig. 2 not shown) the interior of the board is filled with woven rovings bounded on upper and lower sides by unidirectional continuous longitudinal rovings. An upstanding rim may be provided around the major surfaces of the boards.
